General Procedures for the Season
Varsity Boy’s Soccer
A. Academic Work
You will be expected to maintain your grades and handle your studies in a first class manner. We are in school first to get an education. Those needing extra help in class have my permission to be late for practice as long as I receive a note from the teacher.
Stay out of trouble!! Both in school and out. You will do yourself and the team little good if you are ineligible.
Be a role model at all times, you are the Varsity Team, act like it, younger students and athletes will look up to you.
Treat your classmates and teachers, as you would like to be treated-with “concern and respect”
“THE HARDER YOU WORK THE LUCKIER YOU GET”
B. Practice Guidelines
1. Be on time!
2. Permission to miss practice will be granted by the Head Coach.
3. Give immediate attention to the coach’s whistle or voice.
4. Give 100% effort on the practice field or court. Work on your weaknesses and keep your strengths up to par. Accomplish something through hard work.
5. Practice makes perfect is true, only if the proper mechanics are being practiced. Practice with a purpose.
6. Avoid senseless horseplay. Treat everyone in the program with respect and they will treat you with respect. We must all work toward the best interest of the team.
7. Take care of the equipment. You will be responsible for equipment issued to you and bringing in and taking out equipment for practice and games.
8. Keep the locker room neat and orderly and do your share to keep the locker room neat and clean. Pick up after yourself and teammates.
C. Practice Procedures
1. Hustle at all times. Move quickly from drill to drill. Prove that you want to play. No sitting unless instructed to do so.
2. Don’t Complain or talk back.
3. When instruction is being given, both at practice and games everyone’s attention is demanded. No talking please. Know what it is we are doing if you are called on to play.
4. Take pride in yourself, your team, and your school and in doing the job right.
5. Accept criticism as a way of bettering yourself and your team.
6. No swearing, its foolish and undisciplined
“DISCIPLINE YOURSELF SO THAT OTHERS WON’T HAVE TO”
D. Games
1. We would like the teams to sit together as a group to build team unity and spirit. Do this anywhere we are together. Develop team attitude.
2. Before the game on the bus, or in the locker room, think about the game no horsing around. Be emotionally and mentally ready to play when the time comes.
3. Conduct yourself in a sportsmanlike manner at all times on the field or court and both in and out of school. Develop pride in yourself, your team, and your school.
4. At all times I have the good of the team in mind and I will do what I think is best; therefore you should have little reason to question my decisions.
